Getting Ready for Shabbos

The Italian white bread worked out really well. It was so moist and had a nice bite to it, and the flavor was delightful. The kids are making short work of this loaf. Tonight, grilled cheese sandwiches!

The sourdough starter is sitting until Sunday or Monday. I hope it works out!

I made chocolate ice cream mochi and tuna sushi for my mother's birthday. Yum! It was a little messy to make the mochi, but that was because I didn't wait long enough for the mochi to cool before I added the ice cream. Oh well, better job next time, eh?

I made challah this morning, and I think I lost count of my teaspoons and added extra yeast. Maybe the challah will be a little beer-y for shabbos? I guess we'll find out tomorrow night...

The chicken that I made was also from the Italian kosher cookbook. The spicing includes sage, rosemary, garlic, salt, and pepper. It smells absolutely scrumptious! We're going to have roasted basil and sun-dried tomato spiced potatoes with it. Mmmm. Drool.

Tomorrow? Chocolate meringue cookies and a caramel custard. Not from the book, but hey. It's yummy, too, right?

Anyway, I'm signing out for now.
