The Beginnig

Okay, so this is my first blog and my first post. Let's see how this goes, shall we?

In part this is a journal for me, a way for me to keep my "writing muscle" going. It's a way for me to keep track of things. It's also a way to share my experiences. I have "artificially" created a reason to get me started blogging. After seeing the movie "Julie and Julia," I got the idea to try cooking my way through a kosher cookbook. So, I have taken the book "The Classic Cuisine of the Italian Jews," by Edda Servi Machlin and begun to decide what recipes I will try first. There is another book I may also be bringing into the mix called "The International Kosher Cookbook," presented by the 92nd Street Y Kosher Cooking School, since the Classic Cuisine is "compact."

Now, I'm hoping tomorrow to begin with Sourdough Starter (Il Lievito Casalingo), White Bread (Pane in Cassetta), and since I'll be baking, I might as well also make a Pizza Neapolitan Style (Pizza Alla Napoletana). Phew! We'll see how I do...

  1. Let me know how the sourdough starter turns out. I've never found one that was really good.

  2. Yeah, I'll post how it comes out. This one is stupid easy, too. No stirring, no feeding, nada.
